The Place

Naggar.

Where the Beas valley opens wide.

Naggar sits quietly on a ridge above the Beas river, just 26 km from Manali — close enough to reach easily, far enough to feel nothing like it. It was the capital of the Kullu kingdom for centuries — stone temples, apple orchards, a slowness the rest of the world has forgotten.

The Russian painter Nicholas Roerich chose to spend his final years here. When you watch the clouds drift across the peaks, you understand why he never left.

By Air

Bhuntar Airport (KUU) is 28 km away — about 45 minutes by road. Chandigarh (IXC) is 280 km with more connections.

By Road

Naggar is 22 km from Kullu and 26 km from Manali on the old Manali road. Overnight Volvo buses from Delhi — alight at Patlikuhal, taxi to Naggar (~20 min).
