Naggar · Kullu District · Himachal Pradesh
Curious Cat Cottage is a quiet, five-room mountain stay in the village of Naggar, 26 km from Manali at 1,760 metres. It sits off the main road, surrounded by apple orchard and deodar forest, with shared dorm beds alongside the private rooms. It suits solo travellers, writers and remote workers who want the Kullu valley without the noise of Manali town.
Naggar sits on a ridge above the Beas river on the old Manali road, 26 km south of Manali and 22 km north of Kullu. It is not on the main highway, so through-traffic to Manali and Rohtang bypasses it entirely. The village was the capital of the Kullu kingdom for centuries; what is left of that is a 500-year-old castle, a handful of wooden temples, apple orchards and narrow lanes that do not carry much vehicle noise.
The practical difference from Manali town is straightforward. Manali sits at about 2,050 metres with a busy bazaar, hotel strips and traffic along Mall Road. Naggar is at 1,760 metres and stays quiet after dark. You can still reach Solang Valley, Rohtang and Manali itself on a day trip.
There are five private rooms — two Luxury, one Writer's and two Cosy — plus shared dorm beds. Every private room has an en-suite bathroom, hot water and breakfast included.
If you are coming here to work rather than to rest, the workation page sets out exactly which room has a desk and what to ask us about the connection. Current rates and live availability are on the booking page. You can also see all the rooms on the homepage.
